A price that changes
The quote you approve is the price you pay. A second fault means a phone call, not a bigger bill.
We are a repair workshop, not a retailer with a repair counter attached. That difference shapes almost everything about how we work.
Fixing Masters started in 2011 with one bench, a hot air station and a great deal of optimism about how many iPhone 4 screens the neighbourhood was going to break. Fifteen years later there are five benches, and the devices have changed more than the failures have.
Most of what comes through the door still falls into the same handful of categories: something was dropped, something got wet, something wore out, or something got hot and stayed hot. What has changed is how the devices are built. Glued-down batteries, soldered storage, ports that are part of the board — all of it makes repair harder and makes doing it properly matter more.
We invested in board-level work because of that. When a console's HDMI port fails, the manufacturer's answer is a replacement console; ours is a hot air station, a microscope and a new connector for a fraction of the price. When a MacBook comes in after a spill, the choice is not between a new logic board and nothing.
Every device gets tested before we say a number, and the number does not move afterwards. If we open something up and find a second fault, we stop and call you rather than adding it to the bill. If we cannot fix it, you pay nothing — including for the diagnostic.
We also tell people not to repair things. A six-year-old laptop needing a $300 board repair is not a good use of anyone's money, and saying so costs us the job. We would rather have the next four repairs than this one.
There is no single honest answer to "do you use genuine parts", because for a lot of devices genuine parts are simply not sold to independent repairers. Where they are available, we use them. Where they are not, we use Grade-A aftermarket components that meet the original specification — never the cheapest option on the market, which is where most of the repair industry's bad reputation comes from.
You are told which you are getting before you approve the quote, and the price reflects it. Everything carries the same 180-day warranty either way.

What we will not do
The quote you approve is the price you pay. A second fault means a phone call, not a bigger bill.
If the fault is software, we will not sell you a part. If it is not worth fixing, we will tell you that instead.
We do not reset storage to make a repair easier. If a job genuinely needs it, we back up first and ask you.

Walk in during opening hours and we will look at your device. There is no appointment system and no queue ticket — just a counter and a bench behind it.
Before you come in
Most phone screens and batteries are done in 30 to 60 minutes while you wait. Laptops and tablets are usually one to three days, consoles two to four, and data recovery two to seven depending on what failed. You get a time estimate with your quote, and a call if anything changes it.
Yes, on every device and every fault, whether or not you go ahead with the repair. We would rather tell you honestly that something is not worth fixing than charge you to find out.
Every repair carries 180 days on both the replacement part and our labour. If the same fault comes back in that window we fix it again at no cost. The warranty does not cover new accidental damage — a fresh drop is a fresh repair.
Screen, battery, port and camera repairs do not touch your storage, so your data stays where it is. We still ask you to back up first, because no repair is entirely risk-free. If a device will not power on we will tell you before we start whether recovery is likely.
We use genuine parts where they are available to independent repairers, and Grade-A aftermarket parts where they are not — never the cheapest bin option. We tell you which you are getting before you approve the quote, and the price reflects it.
No. Walk in during opening hours and we will look at it. Booking ahead through the form or by phone means we can have the part ready, which is worth doing for anything less common than an iPhone screen.
That is most of what we do. We are independent, so we work on any brand and any age of device, including ones the manufacturer has stopped supporting.
You pay nothing. We will explain what failed, tell you whether the data is recoverable, and recycle the device responsibly if you want us to.
Describe the fault and we will tell you what it takes to fix it, what it costs, and how long it will be away from you. The diagnostic is free whether or not you go ahead.
