What we collect when you contact us or bring a device in, why we hold it, and how long we keep it.

Who we are
Fixing Masters is an independent device repair workshop at 17800 SE Mill Plain Blvd #190, Vancouver, WA 98683. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.
What we collect
From the website: your name, phone number, email address and whatever you write in the quote form. The site also records anonymous usage statistics — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from — with no attempt to identify individuals.
From a repair: your contact details, the device make, model and serial number, a description of the fault, and the device passcode if you choose to give it to us. We record the passcode only for the duration of the repair and delete it when the device is collected.
Your device and its contents
We access the contents of a device only where the repair requires it, and only to the extent it requires. A screen or battery replacement does not involve reading your files. Data recovery obviously does, and in that case we look only far enough to confirm that recovered files open correctly.
We never copy, retain or share the contents of a customer device beyond what the job needs. On data recovery jobs, our working copy is destroyed once you confirm you have everything.
Why we hold it
To answer your enquiry, to carry out and warranty the repair, and to meet our legal obligations for tax and accounting records. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Repair records are kept for the length of the warranty plus six years, because tax law requires it. Quote enquiries that do not become repairs are deleted after twelve months. Device passcodes are deleted at collection.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies to remember your cookie choice and to gather anonymous usage statistics. You can decline the non-essential ones using the notice on your first visit, or clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Who else sees it
Our email provider and hosting provider process data on our behalf under contract. Where a repair needs a part ordered in, the supplier receives the device model — never your personal details. Nobody else has access.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it. You can also object to how we use it. We will respond within one month.
